Starting Haftorah section of year!

Hello!

Today we finished Vzot Hatorah, and so are next beginning the Opening Haftorah Blessing. If missing class, there is a detailed tutorial here (they can begin watching at 3:26)! This Wednesday they will be learning the words, and next class begin the tune.

As always, we have been adding more root leaves to our class tree and lately just illustrated some more of our vocabulary words. Today, we also played a fun white board game, where I said an English word and they wrote it in Hebrew script!

They all did a great job at their Dalet Shabbat, I'm so impressed at the high attendance rate!

Thanks and see you soon!

Snow Day and Class Shabbat!

Hello!

As you hopefully know, there's no Hebrew School today (2/5/2014).

Last class we began the tune to the blessing after the Torah reading. If you/ or your child missed class please watch this video, and accustom yourself with the tune and words! Link to a helpful practice video is HERE.

The class Shabbat is also coming up (February 21!), and the kids will be reading their responses to some questions. If you missed class last Sunday and/or Wednesday please write responses to 3-4 of the questions to catch up. If you have any questions (I know the wording can be confusing) we will be spending a little more time on this in class!

1.       It is said that in each age, we receive and transmit the Torah.  How do our services allow us to both receive and transmit Torah?

2.       Is learning about the Torah important to you?  Is it important to your family?  Why?

3.       Having studied the Torah service, what elements of the service do you think help the community identify that the Torah is something important?  How does that prayer or action do that?

4.       What stories in your Hebrew school book have you felt most connected to or enjoyed?  Retell it and why you enjoyed it.

5.       How can you transmit Torah to future generations?  What things can you do to make sure the Torah remains relevant?

Thanks and see you Sunday! Hopefully when it's nice and warm!
